Developed in 1984 by NIC Industries, Cerakote is the world leader in aftermarket finishes. Cerakote is a ceramic based, sprayed on finish that can be applied to materials such as metal, wood, polymer, and plastic. It is the most durable sprayed on finish available today. With over 90 ceramic colors and finishes, it is easy to find a custom look and match existing color schemes. This is why Cerakote is the number one finish for firearms.
We offer two different grades of Cerakote, H and C. The H grade is most popular with firearm, knife and tactical applications with a main focus on hardness and corrosion and heat resistance. It’s a two part thermal cure system, which makes it wear exceptionally well. H grade offers heat resistance up to 525 degress Farenheit , corrosion resistance at five percent salt spray solution exceeding 2,500 hours (ASTM B117), and a pencil hardness of 7h (ASTM D3363).
The C grade is most commonly used for projects that require a main focus on heat resistance/dissipation, chemical resistance, and flexibility. It is an ambient cure, one part system that hardens as heat increases. As temperature increases, the coating begins to flux which increases its abrasion resistance properties. It has a pencil scratch hardness (ASTM D3363) of 7h, corrosion resistance exceeding 550 hours at five percent salt spray test (ASTM B117), and can withstand temperatures up to 1,200 degrees Farenheit without failing.
So Cal Cerakote can custom mix any color(s), allowing for unlimited color schemes and patterns. We are capable of doing common camouflage patterns, both free hand and from vinyl stenciling.* This is why Cerakote is our number one choice.
